“Put Your Ass Where Your Heart Wants To Be”

February 1, 2019

put your ass.jpgOn this final day of January, this piece of advice from Steven Pressfield succinctly sums up what I need to hear and what I want you to know.

THIS is what it comes down to. Put your ass where your heart wants to be. If you want to write a book, sit your ass down at your desk and write. If you want to take yoga classes 3 times a week to help you to feel calmer and more grounded, take your ass and put it in a yoga class 3 times a week. If you want to launch a business or an exhibit of your photography, put your ass where it needs to be so that your heart’s desire can be brought to life.

At the end of each day, Steven asks himself just one question: “Did I overcome resistance today?”

That’s really all that we need to do, day in and day out.

But here’s the thing, dear friend. And this is the freaking snake in the grass.

“The more important an activity is to your soul’s evolution, the more resistance you will feel to it. The more fear you will feel.”

So the more meaningful that your dream is to you, the more resistance you are going to feel towards going after it. The more your ass will resist being put where it needs to be for that dream to be realized. And, damn, it’s shocking how stubborn an ass can be.

So take a moment to thank your fear and your resistance for showing up and reminding you how important this dream is to you. And then … put your ass where it needs to be.
